There are several attractive pool picks who played less than half a season in the NHL last year due to injury. Sidney Crosby heads the group. Some players on the list may be forgotten by those in your fantasy draft because of their extended absense during the 2010-11 season. Here`s a few key players who played less than half of last season (due to injury) who could make a difference in your fantasy hockey pools:
SIDNEY CROSBY, C, PITTSBURGH
Poolies would be wise to watch the progress of Crosby as he recovers from concussion problems. Scored 66 pts. (32g,34a) in 41 games in 2010-11. Another 100+ point season is attainable- if he`s healthy and back to form.
ZACH PARISE, LW, NEW JERSEY
Coming off serious knee injury.Had seasons of 82 and 94 points with Devils before playing only 13 games in 2010-11 (6 points).
MARK STREIT, D, NY ISLANDERS
Missed all of 2010-11 with a shoulder injury that required surgery. Will probably be the powerplay QB for a young and improving Isles squad. Had 49 pts. in 2009-10 and 56 the year before.
DEREK ROY, C, BUFFALO
Missed the last half of last season with a quadriceps injury. Was a point-a-gamer (10g,25a) in the 35 games he played. Scored 69 points in 2009-10 and 70 points in `08-09.
ANDREI MARKOV, D, MONTREAL
Recovering from knee surgery. Played only seven games in 2010-11 (3 pts.). When back and healthy will be an important part of Montreal powerplay and will put up points.
PETER MUELLER, C, COLORADO
A concussion suffered in a pre-season game sidelined Mueller for the entire 2010-11 season.
MAX PACIORETTY, LW, MONTREAL
Had 24 points in 37 games before a serious neck injury ended his 2010-11 season.
DAYMOND LANGKOW, C, PHOENIX
Suffered a broken neck and played only four games in 2010-11. The 35-year-old returns to Coyotes after trade from Calgary.
