Vinny Prospal
Vaclav Prospal was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft, Third Round, Seventy-First Overall. While with the Philadelphia Flyers, Prospal suffered a fractured arm during the 1995-1996 playoffs. Prospal and another player collided during the Philadelphia Flyers practice session. During the 1996-1997 season, Prospal broke his leg while fighting for the puck with Lance Pitlick during a game with the Ottawa Senators. As a result of these injuries, Prospal's time in Philadelphia was mostly forgotten.
Prospal was moved to the Ottawa Senators in the 1997-1998 season. He played there until 2000-2001 and was moved to the Florida Panthers. In 2001-2002, Prospal ended up playing for the Tampa Bay Lightning. In 2003-2004, Prospal was moved once again. This time Prospal ended up on the Anaheim Ducks.
After the NHL lockout season, Vaclav was back in Tampa. It was then, like many other players post-lockout, that he had his best season. 2005-2006 saw Prospal score 80 points in 81 games, including 25 goals and 55 assists.
Prospal is another one of those players that never seems to live up to his offensive potential. He has many offensive gifts, but he rarely satisfies. Prospal is rather skilled on the power play and has been shooting the puck a lot more lately, but he needs to work on his overall consistency.
