Ruslan FedotenkoRuslan Fedotenko was born in Kiev, USSR (now known as Ukraine) and played two games with Kiev Sokol of the Russian League. He played on the Sioux City Musketeers of the USHL in 1998-1999 and scored 77 points in 55 games. Despite these performance, Fedotenko went undrafted and first entered the NHL when he was signed by the Philadelphia Flyers in 1999. He headed to the Philadelphia Phantoms for one good season when he arrived, notching 50 points in 67 games with the AHL club. He played two years for the Flyers and spent more time with the Phantoms before being traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2002. Fedotenko scored the Stanley Cup winning goal in 2004 for the Lightning and was a valuable member of the team, leading them to their first franchise Cup. He resigned with the club for another year and had a decent follow-up year in 2006-2007. Fedotenko signed a one-year contract with the New York Islanders in July of 2007 and will provide a good physical presence on the club as they rebuild. He averages around 35 points a season and brings size and a mean streak to his team. Fedotenko also loves to score and will shoot first and ask questions later. He’s willing to put his body on the line for a scoring chance or to set up a teammate. |
