Philippe Boucher
The Buffalo Sabres drafted Phillipe Boucher in the first round, 13th overall, in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. A year later, he would begin his pro career, starting the 1992-1993 season as a defenseman for the Sabres. Despite some solid outings, Boucher ended the season with the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League. After three somewhat disappointing seasons with the Sabres, Boucher was dealt to the Los Angeles Kings during the 1994-1995 season.
In 2002, Boucher signed as a free agent with the Dallas Stars, reuniting with the former special teams coach of the Kings, Dave Tippett. With Dallas, Boucher has tied his career-high in games played in a season. His production exploded in Dallas and he enjoyed a great season in 2005-2006. Boucher's 2006-2007 season was even better, as he ended up with 51 points in 76 games (19 goals and 32 assists). He even played in the All-Star Game in 2007.
Boucher started out as an offensive prospect, but the story of his career is that he has developed into one of the more complete defensive packages in the game. He has a great shot and a good head on his shoulders, making him smart and dangerous all at the same time. Boucher can play any role asked of him and will even drop the gloves if necessary.
