Matt D'Agostini
Matt D’Agostini was drafted 190th overall in the sixth round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens. The Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario native spent two years (2004-2006) in the OHL with the Guelph Storm and was named to the OHL Second All-Rookie Team. He finished his OHL career averaging a point a game with 125 points in 125 total games played. After signing a three-year contract with the Montreal Canadiens, he spent the 2006-07 season with their AHL team, the Hamilton Bulldogs and helped them become the Calder Cup champions. He spent the following season with the Bulldogs, except for his only NHL appearance on April 3, 2008 against the Buffalo Sabres. The following season, he was leading the Bulldogs with 14 goals when he was called up in November 2008 to play with the Canadiens. He scored his first NHL goal on December 2nd against the Atlanta Thrashers and recorded his first career assist the very next game against the New York Rangers. He led all Montreal players with 6 goals and 39 shots during the month of December. He finished the 2008-09 season leading all Montreal rookies with 12 goals (including 3 power play goals), 9 assists and 21 points. He then signed a one-year contract with the Canadiens during the off-season. At 6 feet tall and around 200 pounds, D’Agostini is a fast skating right winger with good defensive skills. He does, however, need to become more consistent in order to thrive at the NHL level.
