Mark Parrish
Mark Parrish was drafted in the third round, 79th overall, by the Colorado Avalanche in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft. Before he had ever played an NHL game, the Colorado Avalanche traded Parrish to the Florida Panthers along with a 3rd round selection in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for Tom Fitzgerald. He spent a modest year in Florida, putting up 44 points in 81 games.
Parrish was sent to the Islanders in 2001 with Oleg Kvasha in the deal that sent Roberto Luongo and Olli Jokinen to the Panthers. He spent several years in Long Island, putting up good numbers and proving himself as a fan favourite. Eventually, Parrish was traded along with Brent Sopel to the Los Angeles Kings on March 8, 2006, for Jeff Tambellini and Denis Grebeshkov.
Parrish played 19 games for the Kings. In July of 2006, he signed a 5-year deal with the Minnesota Wild. Parrish is currently one of the Wild captains. He has a nose for the net and is a productive NHL winger that loves to collect the garbage and score from just about anywhere. Parrish is a quick skater, but he'll need to become more defensively responsible to be more reliable.
