Jeff Halpern
Jeff Halpern was born in Potomac, Maryland, and began playing for Princeton University in 1995. He played there for four seasons and went undrafted at the NHL level. Halpern was picked up by the Washington Capitals and began playing there in 1999. He spent six seasons with the Capitals. Halpern enjoyed his best season with the Caps in 2003-2004 as he finished with 46 points in 79 games. He would head to Switzerland in the lockout season and spent nine games with Kloten in the A-league and 15 games with Ajoie in the B-league. Halpern returned to the Capitals after the lockout season for one more year, then was moved to the Dallas Stars for the 2006-2007 NHL season. He finished the 2006-2007 season with 25 points. Halpern will look to add on to his seven year NHL career and will hope to add to the Dallas Stars in any way he can. He is a hard worker that plays a solid defensive game. Mostly useful on the penalty kill, Halpern is a solid leader and can chip in offensively when necessary. He has an underrated shot. Halpern is not going to make any top six forward lines any time soon, but he is a reliable checking line center that can help any team in the league.
