Bryan McCabe
Bryan McCabe was selected by the New York Islanders in the second round (40th overall) in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft. He played for the New York Islanders, the Vancouver Canucks, and the Chicago Blackhawks before joining the Maple Leafs in 2000.
McCabe finished fourth in Norris Trophy voting and was named to the Second All-Star Team at the culmination of the 2003-04 season. He signed with HV71 of the Swedish Elitserien when it was announced that the NHL season was facing a lockout. McCabe struggled in the Swedish Elite League and was released from HV71 after accumulating a total of 1 goal and 0 assists in 10 games with 30 penalty minutes.
At the NHL level, however, it's been a very different story for Bryan McCabe. He is ranked as one of the NHL's best defensemen and is very skillful at both ends of the ice. McCabe usually scores over ten goals a season and has a heck of a slapshot that he's been able to use in conjunction with Kaberle's assists recently. The McCabe/Kaberle connection has been responsible for many power play points. McCabe is also a workhorse, often finishing in the league's top five for overall ice time.
