Brenden Morrow
Brenden Morrow was born in Carlyle, Saskatchewan, and started his career with the Portland Winter Hawks of the WHL. He played four seasons with them and was drafted 25th overall by the Stars in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft. In 1998, Morrow helped lead Portland to the Memorial Cup Championship. He began his career in the NHL immediately after his final junior season. Morrow played very well on the Winter Hawks throughout his tenure there, posting less than 80 points only once. He also played well in the playoffs for the team. When Morrow joined the Stars in Dallas, he also put up solid numbers. His debut season in 1999-2000 saw him score 33 points in 64 points. Morrow also got a lot of playoff experience that year, playing in 21 playoff games and finishing the post-season with 6 points. He put up solid numbers for the Stars in each season after that, never scoring less than 40 points in a season. Morrow spent the NHL lockout season with the Oklahoma City Blazers of the CHL and then returned to the Stars for the following season. He enjoyed his best season ever in 2005-2006, potting 65 points in 81 games and icing 6 points in 5 playoff games. In September of 2006, as a result of his great play, Morrow was named as the captain of the Dallas Stars and replaced a slumping Mike Modano. He was the fifth player to wear the “C” in Dallas since the team moved from Minnesota. Morrow also saw his name appear on the All-Star ballot for the first time ever in 2006. He is a quality player with great leadership skills. Morrow’s stock will continue to rise in Dallas as he gets more responsibility. 2006-2007 saw him produce 31 points in 40 games. Morrow is a power forward in every sense of the word.
