Shea Weber

Shea Weber was drafted by the Predators with the 49th overall pick in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Weber helped Canada win the gold medal at the 2005 World Juniors. He, along with Dion Phaneuf formed the teams' top defence pairing. Weber has played one full season in Nashville (2006-2007) and has made contributions at the international level. It's still early to say what type of player he will develop into, but he does have a great upside. The complete defender, Weber has great size and a strong, slick skating stride. He also has good quickness on the ice and sees the surface well, allowing him to make quick plays without much thought. Weber can also hit hard when the chances present themselves and is capable of rushing the puck up ice. He tends to be more comfortable playing defensively, however.
