Jeff Carter

Jeff Carter began his hockey career with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League, before Philadelphia selected him 11th overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. He recorded 34 goals and 40 assists (74 points) in 55 regular season games for the Greyhounds in 2004-2005 and was a first-team OHL all-star. Carter joined the Flyers American Hockey League affiliate in 2004-2005, the Philadelphia Phantoms and recorded 23 points (12 goals, 11 assists) in 21 playoff games to help the Phantoms win the Calder Cup. He was named to the IIHF World Junior Championship All-Tournament team, and posted 10 points in 6 games as Canada won the tournament. In his first year as a Flyer in 2005-2006, Carter scored 42 points in 81 games (23 goals and 19 assists). His production has fallen somewhat since then, but he continues to be a developing player with a good offensive upside. Carter is a powerful skater and is a natural center.
