Jason Chimera
Jason Chimera was born in Edmonton, Alberta, and played his junior career in the WHL for the Medicine Hat Tigers and the Brandon Wheat Kings. His best season in his junior career was with the Tigers in 1997-1998 when he scored 66 points in 72 games, including 34 goals and 32 assists. After such bold performances, Chimera was selected 121st overall in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft by the Edmonton Oilers. Chimera played three seasons on the Hamilton Bulldogs in the American Hockey League and, in his final season, was named to the AHL First All-Star team. He closed out his tenure with the Bulldogs in great fashion, scoring 77 points in 77 games in the 2001-2002 season. Chimera played two seasons for Edmonton before being traded to the Phoenix Coyotes right before the lockout. Because of the lockout, he did not play the following season and went to Italy in the A.S. Mastini Varese Hockey. Chimera now plays for the Columbus Blue Jackets, after being dealt as part of a trade to acquire Geoff Sanderson. Chimera has yet to achieve high levels of offensive production in the NHL, having never scored more than 30 points in a full regular season at the NHL level. His best season was arguably his last one with the Blue Jackets, as he scored 30 points in 80 regular season games. Chimera is known for his fast skating ability and good positioning. He was a member of the 2007 Canadian IIHF World Championship team that won gold in a 4-2 win against Finland in Moscow.
